Vahap spend the month of July visiting supermarkets upstate NY, and studying the sublime branding and semiotic relationship of consumer goods which envelops suburban America. This series of work called “Walmart” is executed as a result. Choice of the brands is based on their categorical and semiotic relationship with each other. “Bounce, shout, gain” are all happy names all belong to laundry products as “Raid, combat, revenge” features three products all for fighting pest.
