TWO HUNDRED MONEY BOXES, 1992

tin money boxes, wooden shelf, 200 x 90 x 50 cm

Some third world economies heavily rely on resourceful-ness and recycling. These type of economies create small underground industries which turn trash or discarded material into commodity. These money boxes are the product of that kind of economy; they are money boxes made out of excess or misprinted tins made for the rural market in Turkey only artist turned them inside out to show the prints on them instead of the gold metal color.
