GROWING WATERMELONS IN GARDION, 1994

video installation

This is a video installation made of two monitors installed next to each other. The act takes place by river Tigris running next to the archeological site Gordion birthplaze of king Midas near Ankara. The monitor on the right shows the artist picking a watermelon from the pile on the right of the screen and deliberately throwing in to river running wild, the monitor on the right showing the artist picking the watermelon which comes to the shore from the whirlwind created by the waterfall and drops it on the pile left of the monitor creating the constant cycle of dropping them and collecting them with the loop.
